Welcome to the Maine Mountain Bike Association (MMBA) website. Maine has been home to mountain biking in many shapes and forms over the history of the mountain bike, including a multitude of cross-country races over the past two decades. We invite you to join us for another year of racing. Our point series events are EFTA sanctioned so you will need an EFTA license to participate. If you are a first timer, pro or just out to have some fun we would love to see you experience mountain bike racing in Maine. Browse our website for upcoming and past events and find results and photos posted for your viewing pleasure. 2009 MMBA point series schedule
The 2009 MMBA point series consists of seven events, with the first event to take place on May 17th at Maine Sport in Rockport. The last event and award ceremony will take place at the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center in Carrabasset Valley in September with the exact date to be announced.
The MMBA point series rules have been updated in light of the decrease in the number of participants in recent years. For example, starting with the 2009 season, we have done away with the age groups for racers age 18 and up. We no longer require riders to participate in a minimum number of the MMBA point series events to be eligible for the individual championship in each race category; there is a minimum-number-of-event requirement for the "Duchess of Dirt" and "Master of Mud" titles. Riders can move down a category, but if a rider moves down during the race season, he/she cannot take points earned to the lower category. To read more, click here.
