Series Info
Welcome to the Maine Mountain Bike Association (MMBA) website, and thanks to all racers and spectators who supported the MMBA Points Series in 2004. The 2005 season will feature a series of seven cross-country mountain bike races, and one short-track mountain bike race held at different locations throughout Maine between May 29, 2005 and September 25, 2005. Individuals of all ages compete in different categories, including novice, sport, and expert. Each rider is awarded points counting toward the MMBA Points Series 2005 championships. There are also two specialty categories, which do not qualify for the 2005 championship: first timer and clydesdale. First timer riders race for free in their first MMBA race event in 2005. Some of the series events offer races for kids, generally ages 3-11.

Correction:The Clifford Park Assault race in Biddeford, Maine on September 4, 2005 will not be the Maine qualifier for the NORBA 2005 National Mountain Bike Championships to be held September 15-18, 2005.

The 2005 MMBA Point Series will be sanctioned by the Eastern Fat Tire Association (EFTA), and generally follow the EFTA ability category and age class format. Because the 2005 MMBA Points Series will be EFTA sanctioned, racers will need an EFTA rather than a NORBA license to participate in the MMBA race events. Racers can get an EFTA license by applying and paying on-line at www.efta.com, which will direct you to www.Active.com. EFTA licenses will also be available for sale at the MMBA race events. EFTA's 2005 annual license costs $24, and one-day license costs $4. Also, the MMBA point tabulation will be similar to EFTA's point format, and therefore the point tabulation will differ from the format the MMBA has used in previous years. Additional point tabulation information is posted on the points page.

The MMBA is excited about the 2005 season, and is looking forward to seeing you at the race events. We believe our affiliation with EFTA will be a positive one, and complement and support the MMBA Points Series well. The beauty of Maine goes without saying, so please join us and participate in any of the MMBA races. Please visit the MMBA website again for 2005 season updates..
